Have you been performing since you were a little kid?

Yes, I started in the industry when I was very young. I started doing beauty pageants, which led to entertaining, then to theatre. I was in the traveling Broadway production of Les Misérables as little Eponine. I didn’t start my singing career until I was eleven.

Who are some of your music inspirations?

I would say my music inspiration comes from so many different, incredible artists. I love a broad spectrum of music from all across the board because my entire family just loves music. I was raised to enjoy all types of music from  R & B, jazz, pop, hip-hop, and country. If I had to pick my favorite artists, I would say Christina Aguilera, Ariana Grande, Adele, and Carrie Underwood.

Tell us about your song “I Got Me.” What inspired the lyrics and sound?

“I Got Me” is the very first original song that I ever released. When I was younger, I was bullied for being in this industry that I love, for being homeschooled, and for traveling a lot, which meant I was not being “a typical kid”. I decided to write from the heart about what I was currently feeling, and it led to a song about “anti-bullying”. My next few songs were about bullying as well. I want people to know that they aren’t alone in this situation, and I wanted my music to help others through those tough times.

Outside of singing, you also act. Do you hope to combine those two skills more in the future?

I think acting and singing would work great together in the near future. They’re both incredibly challenging, and I would love to see how I could manage to challenge myself with that.

Have you been working on new music in quarantine?

I have been spending lots of time with family during this quarantine, which has been wonderful, but I have also been writing. I’ve been putting down some lyrics to a few songs that I can’t wait for everyone to hear. I’m working extra hard during this time off, and I don’t wanna spoil anything, but I will say to stay tuned and be on the lookout for 2021 with some new music headed your way.

What advice do you have for aspiring singers?

When I was younger, growing up in this industry, I wish someone had told me to just be patient, set my goal, and don’t stop until I reach it. Be yourself, be confident in every way. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t when you know you can! Practice makes perfect. If you really want to achieve something, don’t stop until you reach it. Be the best you that you can possibly be, and always keep looking forward and challenge yourself!
