We got to chat with Punkmetender about butterflies, mural painting, and artistic inspiration.
Have you been creating art since you were a child?
Creating has always been my way out of sadness or happiness. Somewhere I have been creative since I was a child.
You must have played around with a lot of different art mediums before landing on creating the elaborate butterfly murals. How long did it take for you to find your art style?
I’m constantly studying my craft, it’s always evolving, I can’t say I’m it when it comes to craftsmanship.
There are butterflies in most of your work. Why did butterflies seem like the right fit for your murals?
Because they connect, they are elegant, light, and free. I love that in my murals.
Who are some of your artist inspirations?
Damien Hurst, Dali, Alexander McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent, to name a few.
You created butterfly murals for Kylie Jenner for her Stormi Collection launch party. How did that opportunity come about?
Simply after Khloe Kardashian contacted me for a piece, Kylie wanted the same.
What advice do you have for aspiring artists?
Discipline! Curate your passion and talent with discipline. You cannot succeed based on chance and favors.
