We got to chat with singer/songwriter Coline Creuzot about her single “Sometimes” and falling in love with performing at a young age.

Has performing been a passion of yours since a young age?

Yes, I have always loved music, singing, writing, and performing. My first experience with performing was through dance. My parents put me in dance at a very young age and I fell in love with being able to express myself creatively. I later discovered my voice and songwriting. Singing, and dancing has always been liberating for me.

Do you take time each day to work on song lyrics or do you tend to write as inspiration hits?

I am constantly inspired. Ideas come to me all day (and night). I usually do a voice memo if I  get a melody idea or write down any lyric ideas that pop into my head on my phone. I sing daily for sure but mainly write full songs in the studio.

Tell our readers about “Sometimes.” What story are you telling through the song?

“Sometimes” is one of my favorites, produced by Happy Perez (who actually produced my very first single ever “give and take”) and it was co-written by Sam Hook. The song is about being honest about your feelings, telling someone how you feel in that moment. Oftentimes we hold back or don’t tell people how we really feel (for many different reasons) but the message is that if you love someone let them know.

How involved were you in the creative process for the “Sometimes” music video?

I am 100% involved in the process. As an independent artist I do everything from selecting the director, helping with the concept, locations, styling, and I also sit in on the editing process.

You’ve had the opportunity to open for acts such as Drake and Monica. Do you learn something new each time you get the chance to open for an artist and now that live music is back will you be back to doing live shows soon?

Each experience is different and it’s always an amazing feeling having the opportunity to open for people you look up to. Each experience prepares you for the next. I am definitely looking forward to performing this year! It’s been a minute with the pandemic.

What advice do you have for aspiring musicians?

Be Yourself, be consistent, don’t let anybody talk you out of your dreams (they are YOUR dreams), and focus on your growth and becoming the best version of yourself as an artist (musician).
