We got to chat with musician Cassie Marin about her song “Busy Body” and why she pivoted from gymnastics to music.
You originally had dreams to be a gymnast. What made you pivot to music?
Yes, gymnastics felt like a beautiful escape for me until I experienced an injury that forced me to re-evaluate my dreams. Pouring myself into music was extremely healing
Who are some of your musical inspirations?
My mom and Britney Spears!
Tell our readers about your new song “Busy Body.” What message do you hope listeners get from the song?
“Busy Body” explores the compulsive surveillance culture we find ourselves in through the world of social media. Naturally, my inspiration came from personal experience. I explore places in my music and hope to bring along my listeners into those places with me. But in terms of what messages they receive from my music, that’s up to the listener — they are free to make that decision themselves.

Do current events, conversations on social media, and online trends often influence your music?
Everything around me and everything within me influences my music to one degree or another. “Busy Body” in particular happened to align with the subject of Social Media.
You produce all of your own music. Do you try to explore and change up your sound often since you have complete creative freedom?
I definitely do, but it happens without a conscious choice to do so. It’s a surprise every time!
What is your advice for aspiring musicians?
Trust yourself 🙂
