We got to catch up with Bianca and Chiara D’Ambrosio and chat about the anniversary of the series The Bay and their new spin-off series yA.
Take us back to the beginning of your career. What initially got you both interested in acting?
Chiara: People would stop my parents on the street telling them to consider putting us in the business because we are twins. After consideration, they decided to submit us for a few auditions and our first role was on The Young and the Restless. We’ve loved the industry ever since.
Bianca: We started on The Young and the Restless at three years old playing Summer Newman. Ever since then we fell in love with acting and have been acting since.
The Bay just celebrated its 10 year anniversary. How does it feel to be apart of a show with such a loyal audience and long legacy?
Chiara: I am so grateful to be a part of The Bay family and carry on the legacy as Regan Sanders on the spin-off yA.
Bianca: It feels amazing! Working with everyone in The Bay family has been such an incredible experience. It’s truly an honor.
After working on the show for quite some time have you seen similarities between you and your characters Frankie and Regan?
Chiara: My character, Regan, cares about her friends and family more than herself, which is a similarity between her and me. She is more reserved, which is more like Bianca.
Bianca: I feel like both Regan and Frankie are compassionate people. They both care and have different ways of showing it. Frankie loves to try to push boundaries, which is more like Chiara.
What have you learned through your time working on The Bay?
Chiara: It’s been amazing to work with some veteran actors that always have great advice.
Bianca: I want to be a director when I grow up. Gregori allows me to sit in the video village when I am not in a scene and watch his process.
You’re both set to lead the cast of The Bay spin-off series yA. What can you tell us about the series?
Chiara: It follows the journey of Frankie and Regan Sanders moving to Bay City with their grandmother after their father passed away. The show has elements of drama and romance that every viewer will enjoy.
Bianca: School, relationship, and personal drama awaits them in Bay City.
How have you been keeping yourselves busy during quarantine?
Chiara: I have been trying to continue exercising and staying focused on my career and school during this time. I have just finished a UCLA summer screenwriting program and I can’t wait to spend my time writing scripts.
Bianca: I have been using this time to get ahead on schoolwork and focus on myself. My sister and I have read so many books and plan to read more before the year ends!
