We got to chat with singer/songwriter Madison Wolfe about her song “Everyday’s A Different Beach” and her advice for aspiring singers.

When you first started creating music did you see yourself pursuing it as a career or was it more of a hobby in the beginning?
I always knew I wanted to be an artist! When I had my first recital for my vocal lesson studio at age 7, I knew I would never turn back!
You’re in college and getting your singing career started. How has it been balancing the two?
I’m not gonna lie, it hasn’t been easy! I am a very school focused person and I have this need to succeed, so I have thrown myself into school and managed to get out a semester early! Now I will have all the time to do music stuff which I am so excited about!!
Who are some artists you look up to and would hope to collaborate with one day?
My songwriting inspirations are definitely Josh Kerr and Hannah Ellis. I saw them in a round at the old Listening Room Cafe here in Nashville back in 2015 and I have strived to be like them, with my own twist of course, ever since. It would be the dream to write with them one day.
Tell us about “Everyday’s A Different Beach.” What inspired the lyrics?
Yeah! So this song came to life in a fun way! My family goes to a beach in Florida every summer and it is my favorite time of the year. It was the summer of 2019 and I remember I wanted to take a paddleboard out that afternoon because the water was perfectly still, but they were all rented out (which was for the best as I am no good at paddleboarding, haha!). The next morning, I came down to the beach and the ocean was angry! The waves were crashing to the shore one after another (okay it wasn’t that bad but I have no balance). I looked at my mom and I said “geez mom every day the beach is so different! It’s crazy how fast it changes!” And the song was born!!
What advice do you have for aspiring singers?
For singers, I would say to get a vocal coach as soon as you can to be sure you aren’t doing anything vocally that could damage your voice. My coach specifically, Katie Talbot from The Vocal Lab Collective, is amazing as she also helps me find my style! I recommend finding a coach who can help you find your style as well. For songwriters, I would say to write every single day and never leave a song unfinished. No matter how “bad” you think it is, the discipline of finishing every song you start will really pay off. Oh! And always come to co-writes’ with ideas!! Look for them everywhere!!
