Singer and actress Kacey Fifield chatted with us about her song “Confidential” and interacting with fans via social media.

When did you become interested in performing?
I’ve always loved singing and entertaining my family! As a young child, I enjoyed putting on musicals at every family gathering! I officially began voice lessons around age 10, and since then, I’ve released 10+ original singles!
Who are some of your music inspirations?
I love a variety of music. My first inspirations were Taylor Swift and Victoria Justice. I also love Billie Eilish and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Walk us through the making of your song “Confidential”. Did you draw on personal experience when creating the song?
“Confidential” was something new that I tried and I loved it! My songs are usually more pop with EDM influence but I loved this new vibe me and my music producer, Ricardo Padua, came up with. I definitely want to try different genres and vibes in the near future to keep things interesting and fresh. When it comes to lyrics, these are definitely based on my personal experience and what I was going through at the time. Believe it or not, the lyrics came to me while I was brushing my teeth! I had to spit out my toothpaste so I could sing them out. I wrote it all down and it became a song!
Growing up in the digital age has it been easier for you to interact with fans via Instagram and other platforms?
It has been definitely easier! I love interacting with fans through replying to comments. To keep it safe, I don’t answer any DMs. But I try to reply to comments throughout my various social media platforms.
When things start getting back to normal do you hope to tackle more acting projects?
I can’t wait! I love acting so much and would love to go back to it. I have been auditioning through self-tapes so hopefully, something will pan out in the future.
What is your songwriting process?
It really varies. Sometimes I come up with a melody and try to figure out what kind of lyrics it could fit. Other times I come up with a verse or a chorus and go from there and figure out a melody. It’s never the same. And some songs take longer than others. You can’t force artistic creativity so it’s a very interesting process as it’s always evolving and never the same.
