We got to chat with Luciana about her single “Purpose” and her advice for aspiring singers.

When did you realize you wanted to be a singer?

Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I was going to be in music and going to be a singer. It wasn’t until I was 13 or 14 years old I started to take my music seriously. I started to produce music and song write when I was 13. I was also singing all of the original vocals. I realized when I was 14 that music was what I wanted to do as a career!

Did you face any obstacles when you decided to pursue a singing career? How did you overcome them?

Of course. Every artist has to overcome obstacles all the time- the journey is long. The biggest obstacle I have faced is people doubting me and my career. I still constantly receive comments and criticism from people very close to me that ask ‘What’s your real plan’ or ‘What are you really going to do with your life?’ It’s hurtful when it comes from people who are close to you.

What is your songwriting process?

Usually, I will start by creating the beat. After I start to get the main part of the beat, I will go ahead and start to write lyrics that go with the beat, or what the beat says to me. The vibe of the track is the biggest part of songwriting for me!

What is the inspiration behind your new single “Purpose”?

Purpose came from a very personal place. I wrote the beat and the lyrics in one day. The mentality and message of the song is “to not give up and continue working hard for what you want.” I think there are a lot of people today that feel like they don’t have a purpose, and have a sense of feeling lost. I myself identify with that at times, because it is apart of growing and learning in life. Purpose is the anthem for everyone.

Can we expect a full album from you in the near future?

No albums for now, but new music VERY often. 😉

What advice do you have for aspiring singers?

Keep going… push yourself and be yourself.
