Indi Star chatted with us about her song “Just Might Dance” and her songwriting process.

When did singing become a passion of yours?
I have always loved singing but when I was 8, I started taking voice lessons and I fell in love with singing. I decided then that I wanted to sing professionally.
Tell us a bit about your new song “Just Might Dance”. What’s the message of the song?
My first original song is called “Just Might Dance”. I had such a fun time writing and recording the song. Everybody knows someone who feels insecure about themself or doesn’t think they are good for the world, I made my song “Just Might Dance” to tell those people that they are good enough just the way they are.
What is your songwriting process?
I write my songs with my music producers, Nici and Shayon at Jenga Productions. We first talk about the song message and the style and feel of what we want the song to have. Shayon is amazing at making music, and he creates the framework for the song. We then begin writing the lyrics. Some songs take form pretty quickly, and we just keep working until we are happy!
Can we expect an EP from you in the near future?
I would love to come out with an EP soon. I just dropped my second single – “Quick Change” and I will have another new song dropping in April.
Outside of singing, what are your other creative outlets?
A couple of my favorite things to do are creating digital content with my friends, gaming, and I also love to draw and paint. You can follow me on YouTube at Indi Star!
What advice do you have for aspiring singers?
Keep trying and never give up. It’s pretty basic advice but it is so true. You won’t succeed if you don’t try, so keep trying even if you don’t have any hope left.
