We got to chat with actress Lotus Blossom about her role in the Netflix hit We Can Be Heroes and the work she does with the Bunny World Foundation.
In a sense – acting is in your blood. Did you always think you’d end up acting?
I don’t know if I always thought I’d end up acting, but from a young age, I really enjoyed going to acting class and began to develop a passion for the craft.
Your father Ernie Reyes Jr. is an actor. Did he give you any advice before you started filming We Can Be Heroes?
Before we started filming We Can Be Heroes, my dad reminded me to have fun, always be professional, and do my best.
You play Acapella in We Can Be Heroes. What did you do to step into her shoes?
I stepped into my character by doing some drawings, listening to some music, and practicing martial arts.
How did you guys prepare for the fight scenes throughout the movie?
We all got to work with the stunt team and practice fight training, fight choreography and work on the wires for two weeks before we started filming the movie. I’ve also been training with my dad ever since I was little. My martial arts training definitely came in handy when filming because I was already used to choreographing fight scenes and kicking and punching. It was super cool that I got to use some of my skills when we filmed the fight scenes.
What did you and your castmates do off-screen to create an on-screen bond?
All of the kids were staying at the same hotel, so every day after we got back from the set we would either go hang out at someone’s room or go to the hotel’s gym or go swimming! We had some very fun karaoke nights out by the pool. We also played dungeons and dragons and one time we searched for ghosts in the hotel!
Tell us about your latest project Magic Max. What drew you to the film?
Magic Max was my first independent film. I played one of the leads in the movie. The producer and director were really nice. The thing that drew me to the film was the friendship between Tim and Brandi.
Share with our readers the work you do with The Bunny World Foundation. How could our readers get involved?
I have adopted two bunnies from The Bunny World Foundation. Their names are Bobo and Sugar and I loved them so much! If anyone is interested in getting involved, there are a couple of ways they can help – they can adopt, foster, donate, or volunteer time. There are so many bunnies out there that are in need of a forever home. Their Instagram is @bunnyworldfoundation.
What advice do you have for aspiring actors?
This is my advice to aspiring actors – whoever you are and whatever you want to do, follow your dreams, constantly work on your craft, maintain a positive attitude, and surround yourself with a good team.
Beautiful!
Stunning. Professional. And a Star! We knew the minute we saw her, she was Brandi!
Great work Lotus! We’re so proud of you! Keep your head up and stay sweet! 😘
