We got to chat with Jackie Jacobson about Malibu Rescue, her work with the American Diabetes Association, and her advice for aspiring actors.
You’re set to star in the third installment of the Malibu Rescue movies Malibu Rescue: The Next Wave. How did it feel to step back into the role of Dylan?
Stepping back into the role of Dylan is like slipping into a second skin. I’ve found so many similarities between myself and the character that it’s hard to differentiate the two! Being able to get back in the lifeguard outfit and hang at the beach made it sink in that we are really about to film a second movie!
Give us a bit of background on the movie. What can fans expect?
To me, this movie is a perfect combo of action/adventure, friendship, and romance. It was definitely the most action-packed movie we have done so far, so that will be very exciting to watch!! I can’t give away too much, but I can say this movie will not disappoint.
What have you learned about yourself as an actress during your time working on Malibu Rescue?
Malibu Rescue has taught me a lot about myself as an actress. We would have to film a scene at 6 pm at 50-degree weather with crazy winds and act as if it was a beautiful day in the summer. Not letting the elements phase me during a scene taught me to push through, not break character, and be as professional as possible under any circumstance.
Have any other projects in the works that you can tell us about?
Unfortunately, I can’t say what I am currently working on, but hopefully, I’ll be able to announce very soon!
Outside of acting, you are an advocate for the American Diabetes Association & The Alzheimer’s Foundation. When did you start working with those organizations?
The American Diabetes Association and The Alzheimer’s Foundation are both two organizations that are very close to my family. I started working with them shortly after my grandpa was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s a year ago.
What advice do you have for aspiring actors?
The biggest piece of advice I can give aspiring actors is to not get discouraged after one bad audition! This industry is extremely tough and requires a lot of thick skin. Every audition is a lesson and another opportunity to get better and learn what works and what doesn’t! Keep your head up and remember everything happens for a reason!
