We got to chat with actor Abraham Rodriguez about what drew him to Power Rangers Beast Morphers and how he feels about bringing Saved by The Bell to a new generation.
Is there a certain movie or television show that initially sparked your interest in acting?
The High School Musical movies were a big part of my childhood and what really pushed me to pursue acting. All I would think about while watching these iconic Disney movies was “I want to do that!” I love the fun and high energy from the characters and the music.
What drew you to Power Rangers Beast Morphers?
There were many things that made me want to be a part of the legendary Power Rangers franchise. One of them was the inclusivity and diversity Power Rangers has always stood by since the very first season in 1993. Another reason was getting to do stunts and screen fighting which was so much fun and something I would love to continue to do in future roles. Moving to New Zealand for nine months for filming was extremely exciting and truly the best experience of my life.
Are there any similarities between you and your character Nate?
Nate and I are very similar in the way that we are both super clean, organized, and perfectionists. We are both very ambitious and will do whatever it takes to accomplish our goals. I loved creating the character of Nate and learning more about our similarities as well as our differences.
You’ll also soon be seen in the new Saved By the Bell. How does it feel to bring this iconic show to a new generation?
I am so beyond excited for the world to see this revival! It is so exciting for this iconic show to be introduced to a new generation and become a staple in our lives as the original series did for people across the world. The show and everyone behind it are outstanding and I am so grateful to be a part of it.
What can you tell us about your character Spencer?
Spencer is a student at Bayside High and a part of the drama club. He is a super fun character and has definitely been one of my all-time favorite roles I’ve played. I cannot wait for everyone to meet Spencer!
What advice do you have for aspiring actors?
My biggest advice is to never stop chasing your dreams. Everyone has a different journey and timing. Never let anyone or anything stop you from doing what makes you happy. Acting is a beautiful world that requires a lot of hard work, patience, consistency, inner strength, love, and passion. Always stay true to yourself, be gentle with yourself and others, and enjoy the ride.
