We got to chat with musician 80purppp about his EP If Anything, his advice for aspiring musicians, and the music video for “Feels Like / C Royale.”

Has creating music been an interest of yours from a young age?

Yeah I’d say, I started when I was 16.

I feel like we don’t hear about Canada’s music scene that often but incredible artists and creatives come from Canada. Were you very involved in the arts and entertainment scene there?

I feel like the scene I’m in is being created right now. It didn’t feel like there was much of a scene to me back home, until sort of recently. The art that is coming out of Edmonton now will definitely be the start of something special.

If Anything is vulnerable and personal. Do you feel that you grew as an artist while working on it?

Of course, I feel like it was just a lot of introspection. It was challenging at times, but I definitely grew throughout the writing process: learned more about myself.

Tell our readers about “Petty Lies.” What inspired the lyrics?

I wrote the song after a breakup. I still wasn’t completely over it when I wrote/recorded it, so even though I know it’s for the best; I feel like my lyrics have a pleading tone to them. I’m mad, but the door’s still open.

Tell us about the video “Feel Like / C Royale.” Why did you choose that track to make a video and what was the inspiration behind it?

The song just felt like a nice vibe lol, it felt like it was right for some sick visuals. We mainly wanted to capture the essence of the track and stay honest to the music in the way we shot it.
