We chatted with actor Keith L. Williams about his new show The Astronauts on Nickelodeon and he shared his advice for aspiring actors.

In quarantine, everything seemed to be at a standstill. Was it helpful to take a bit of a break or were you eager to get back to work?

We were in the middle of filming The Astronauts when the virus hit, so it was very disappointing when we shut down production. Once I got back home and started spending time with my family it was amazing as we hadn’t all been together like this for some time. We learned so many new things about each other and picked up some fun hobbies.

Tell us about your newest project The Astronauts. What was it about the show that interested you?

The Astronauts is a live-action series on Nickelodeon that follows a group of kids who embark on the adventure of a lifetime when they are mistakenly launched into space. I love space so it was a dream come true for me when I booked it.

Can you relate to your character in the show?

I can totally relate to Martin as we have a lot in common, especially when it comes to being loyal.

What did you and the cast do off-set to create a close bond that would translate on screen?

The cast and I would hang out, watch movies, and role play which created a very strong bond.

The Astronauts must have had a fun set since the show’s main location is space. Were there a lot of fun moments on set?

Yes! There were a lot of fun moments especially when we started filming on the spaceship. It was so surreal! Doing the CGI and floating on the cables made me feel so strong.

What advice do you have for aspiring actors?

My advice to aspiring actors would be to follow your dream, believe in yourself, training is important, and to focus. A quote that stands out to me is: “Don’t tell me the sky’s the limit when there are footprints on the moon.” – Paul Brandt
